A New Place (Part One)

Since our family is so very famous, I know it is a great bother when I haven't blogged in a long time.  Especially without sharing photos of the two littles!  As requested, here are photos of our new home.  I am only showing the downstairs because I have yet to photograph the upstairs.

When we moved, we sold/gave away everything that wouldn't fit into our car.  This included all of our furniture (except for the kids' beds).  After four days of searching, we finally found everything we needed--couches, entertainment center and TV, dining table and chairs--at a local consignment store.   Not only do you get to see pictures of our new place, you also get to see our new (old) furniture!

Living Room

As you can see, it's huge!   The couches are very comfortable and the kids absolutely enjoy jumping on them.

Dining Area

I believe we spend half our day sitting at this table.  Andrew and Emily love it, they think it's super fun to climb on top of the table and dance.  If you look closely at the floor you will see our ingenious way of protecting the floors: industrial plastic covering (I just made that up).   Since an area carpet would cost close to $200, we opted for the cheaper and more creative option.  So far, it's worked very well.

Kitchen

I wasn't sure how I would like this kitchen, as it's very narrow, but I absolutely love it!  There is something nice about having a completely separate kitchen from the dining area.  I suppose an extra treat is having a dishwasher, but that's not the ONLY reason I love the place.  I promise. The nice thing is it's right next to the laundry room so I can cook, wash dishes, and wash/dry/fold laundry simultaneously all while the kids play in the living room and in our backyard.

Backyard

These pictures don't show the extent of our backyard, but they do provide evidence that our kids can actually play outside.  I would say they spend about 40% of their waking time out there.

Laundry Room

We have a laundry room!  (The door leads to our garage; that's right, I said garage.)  As you can see, I use all the space.  I no longer need a basket, either, because I fold and sort the clothes on top of the dryer.
Amazing.

Water Closet (aka Downstairs Bathroom)

Okay, these photos have a dual purpose: first, they show our water closet, the name I call our bathroom because it accurately describes it; second, it portrays Emily's new desire to toilet train--and her new methods.

There you have it.  We have a beautiful, large space to live in AND we are all enthusiastically exploring how to best utilize all the extra room.
