The number one question people ask me is how the Queen is handling being a big sister. Let these pictures answer your questions.
The Queen loves to give Manly kisses. When he is crying or set somewhere so I can take care of her, she will immediately go to his side and lather his head with her sweet kisses. She has only tried to bite him once. Thank goodness.
Truly, the Queen is an excellent big sister. The only difference we have noticed is her sleeping patterns at night. More often than not she will awaken at some point after being put down and will not be comforted until we meet her demands. We, especially Mr B, are happy to comply with her wishes.
As I mentioned in a
previous post, my mother surprised us by coming down and helping for a week.
During this time, Mr B and I gradually adjusted to two children. Mr B learned how to do the Queen's hair.
I took walks with the Queen.
After my dear mother returned home, I was a little worried about how I would handle a newborn and 14-month old on my own. The night before the start of a new week, I was very comforted by the Spirit. I was reminded to trust in the Lord and everything would work out. I have and it has.
Despite having to make daily trips to the hospital to have Manly's bilirubin level checked (which is a post all of its own), I have managed to keep the house somewhat maintained. Our
ward and friends have brought us dinner every day this week. Mr B has been home more than normal to help. And, I have a wonderful, compliant, daughter who helps me, when she understands what I am asking.
As for Manly, he was weighed at 6 lbs 5 oz. at his weight check. His bilirubin is slowly declining, and he eats very frequently. He is absolutely adorable. He is alert, when he is awake, and takes his surroundings in with the most amusing curiosity. He sleeps rather well, and loves to snuggle with his daddy and mommy.
The Queen is teething. She is teething on the couches, her shirts, books, and everything she can possible chew on. Her langauge is improving everyday. Mr B and I feel she is on the edge of a language explosion. She is that close. She is the sweetest little girl. She snuggles with Mr B and I much more than she used to. She now likes to put my shoes on her feet. It is super cute.
Don't worry, she remains the little Queen.
So, in conclusion, we are doing wonderful. We absolutely love our two beautiful children. Mr B's school schedule still requires he be away from home for long periods of time, but when he is home he does so much that we forget he isn't around as much as we'd like.
P.S. Thanksgiving is 2 weeks away!! Hooray!
