Ben turned the big 2-7 this year. To celebrate, we had a day full of festivities.
First, he slept in. Since his birthday happened to fall on his first day off (say it with me) in a month, he deserved all the sleep he could get. So, the kids and I played.
When he woke, we went to his restaurant of choice: Red Robin. Though we were disappointed by the quality of the food, especially for how much we were paying, we had fun together! Emily even ate the food! A BIG plus!
After that, we loaded the kids, lots of snow gear, blankets, and ourselves in the van for a trip up the canyon to enjoy the snow. Believe me, we had a blast.
The snow was deep. Emily isn't even touching the ground in these pictures!
The kids loved playing with Ben. I think he had fun, too.
Naturally, snow isn't fun without a taste test!
Once the kids were sufficiently frozen, we headed back home and to our baby-sitter.
For Ben's birthday finale, I arranged for an apartment swap: my friend came to watch the kids at our place while we went to hers to watch a football game (per Ben's request) and eat homemade hot wings. Unfortunately, I did not get pictures of us; you'll just have to take me at my word that we enjoyed our time together.
To extend Ben's birthday even more, he enjoyed the slopes, and much deserved break, the next day.
Until next year, baby!

Happy birthday Ben! That sounds like such a fun day! What a great blessing for him to have a day off - and for it to land on his birthday!
